Why does birth time need correcting? ▾

Solar time, not clock time. In BaZi the hour pillar, and the day pillar near midnight, follow where the Sun actually was. Clock time is set for a whole time zone, so at your birthplace the Sun may cross the meridian earlier or later than clock noon. We use the longitude of your birthplace to correct for that, and can also add the equation of time (from −14 min in February to +16 min in November).

Daylight saving time is taken from your browser’s time zone database for the birth date, so summer-time births are converted to standard time automatically.

Whichever basis you pick, the “Pillars under each time basis” panel shows every combination side by side. If they differ, choose the one closest to the time on your birth certificate.

Everything is calculated in your browser. Your details are never sent to a server; if “Remember” is on they are kept only in this browser’s storage. Privacy policy ·

About the overall fortune score

Many of Fate Hall’s readings end in a score from 0 to 100. This page collects them in one list — BaZi, Tojeong Bigyeol, Zi Wei Dou Shu, Nine Star Ki, your animal sign, your birth chart, numerology, the Maya and Vedic calendars and more — and shows the average of the ones you select.

How the scores work

Readings based on your birthday are calculated as soon as you enter your details. Draw-type readings such as tarot, the I Ching or runes use the result of your most recent draw, and stay out of the average until you have drawn. Each line shows the reason behind its score, such as today’s day pillar or this year’s Luck Pillar, and tapping the name takes you to that reading. The checkbox on the left only adds the line to the average or removes it.

How to read it

A single number hides a lot, so use it as a starting point. When most systems land in the same range, that is a theme; when one stands out, open it and see why. The "Birthday-based only" button leaves out the random draws if you prefer to compare like with like.
