BaZi (Four Pillars of Destiny), the I Ching and Korean folk fortunes side by side with Western astrology, tarot and numerology. Enter your birth date once and see East and West together.
Fate Hall separates two kinds of content. Some things are calculated: the calendar, the solar terms, the four pillars, the Luck Pillars, the lunar mansions of the almanac and the positions of the planets. Others are interpretation: what a Ten God or a tarot card is traditionally taken to mean. This page shows, section by section, which is which and where each comes from.
Solar terms are computed astronomically and compared minute by minute with the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute table for 1900–2050. The Korean lunar calendar follows KASI. The four pillars are checked against an independent BaZi implementation for more than 14,000 birth dates; the Chinese almanac entries against another independent almanac for every day from 1950 to 2049; planetary positions against published astronomical events. Birth times are converted to local solar time with historical time zones and daylight saving.
Meanings of stars, cards and hexagrams follow widely used traditional sources and are written for this site in neutral, non-fatalistic language. The How Fate Hall Calculates guide walks through the whole process step by step.
